Middle School, Here We Come
My youngest, Claire, is headed into sixth grade, which means a whole new school, schedule of six different classes, a locker... the whole deal.
She's nervous about getting to her classes on time, but she's pretty darn excited about the locker.
When my older daughter Kate was going into sixth grade, she was equally excited about getting a locker. But, as she explained to her sister, that excitement tends to wear off.
Kate had other insights to share as well.
Sadly, Kate has no older sibling to give her advice about high school. But she seems OK... I think? Here's how our conversations go:
So we'll see. I'm sure I'll be reporting back on school-related experiences, and probably making several cartoons. Stay tuned!
Dog Unhappy With New Friend
Our neighbor's cat has been joining us on walks. We walk by his house and, boom! He appears. Then he strolls alongside as we go. The kids and I think it's adorable, but JJ is none too pleased. He tolerates it, but I can tell he's affronted. He keeps looking at me with an expression like, "You're seriously letting this happen? SERIOUSLY?"
"You and the cat are friends," I tell him. "Remember you reached a truce?"
I don't think he likes to remember that, because here's how the "truce" went down.
Speaking of Dogs...
If you love dogs (or animals in general), here are three social media accounts I can suggest:
On Instagram I like to follow an account called Animals Doing Things (@animalsdoingthings), a collection of great animal videos.
Over on Twitter, I like to follow these two accounts: We Rate Dogs (@dog_rates) and Thoughts of Dog (@dog_feelings). So funny, so cute, I just love them.
Cartoons
OK, enough about dogs. Let's talk cartoons!
In the past two weeks we've covered a dance move called the "dab," missing household items, waking up early and more. If you missed any, head over to my website to check them out!
The most popular cartoon in the past two weeks was this one, based on a tweet by Abby Has Issues. Find her on Twitter and Facebook -- she's funny!
Elsewhere on the internet, Parents.com featured some of my cartoons about mornings. So that was cool! Here's one of the cartoons that was included (visit the link above for more).
Hedger Corp Update
Ann's secret is revealed in the latest episode of Hedger Corp! Here's the story.
