Something Fun
I've got a little something in the works for you!
I wanted to create a "thank you" gift for everyone who subscribes to my newsletter, so I'm putting together Printable Cards for Various Occasions. Here's what I'm thinking:
There will be six cards, formatted on an 8.5 x 11 page.
I'm calling them "cards," but they will actually be one-sided, like little postcards.
They will cover different sentiments, like birthday, thank you, congratulations and more.
You will be able to print the page, and then cut out the specific card you want to use.
I'm working on them now, and I'll either email the file to you, or put it in the next newsletter. Or both!
This way, you will always have a card when you need one.
So stay tuned for your gift, coming soon!
Mother's Day Cards
I've got some Mother's Day cards out on shelves, so if you find yourself near a display of Recycled Paper Greetings cards, see if you can spot any of these!
(I think they're only available in the U.S. and Canada.)
INSIDE MESSAGE: Motherhood. It's no #&%ing joke. Happy Mother's Day!
INSIDE MESSAGE: Being a Mom means dealing with very serious matters. Happy Mother's Day!
INSIDE MESSAGE: We're lucky to have you, whatever our names. Happy Mother's Day!
PAGE 2:
INSIDE MESSAGE: Yeah, you definitely deserve a day of recognition! Happy Mother's Day
INSIDE MESSAGE: No lie: You're one amazing Mom. Happy Mother's Day!
This card is in collaboration with my buddy Simon Holland (it's based on one of his tweets).
And, finally, this card "from the dog." You might remember it from Easter! This is the Mother's Day version.
INSIDE:
There you go! Mother's Day is on May 12, so you've got a little time to get your act together.
In the meantime, let me know if you spot any of these cards out in the world!
Three Cool Things
Are you ready to hear about three cool things?
Well, too bad. I'm telling you anyway.
Here they are:
1. In the last newsletter, I mentioned some cover songs that I like. Well, a reader sent me a link to a great recording of the song Sweater Weather. Her son, Alex Tirolese, is playing bass guitar and the singer is Kara Lansdowne. I love this version! It's definitely worth checking out. Here's the link. (It takes you to a video posted on Facebook.)
2. As you may recall from last time, I was preparing to talk to a Girl Scout troop about cartooning. Well, one of the things I was supposed to cover was "how to draw using perspective." One problem: I don't draw in perspective! I had to quickly Google some videos to learn, so I could then teach the scouts. I found this video that did a great job of explaining it. This video is a fun tutorial, if you're interested--or maybe you know a kid who would be interested!
3. My family has really been enjoying snacks from this company called SAFE + FAIR. They make allergy friendly food, and we especially like these chips, granola and cookies:
You can order them online (free shipping). This is not an ad, these snacks are just a hit in my house! Anytime we run out, my family is like, "Order more!"
Top Cartoons
I post cartoons regularly on Instagram, Facebook, and on my website. So follow along!
The following two cartoons were the most popular since the last newsletter.
This first one is based on a tweet by my friend Abby Has Issues. I've had this happen with my grocery store, and it was indeed upsetting. Has it happened to you?
This next cartoon is totally based on Claire. When she was little, she would fake illnesses from time to time, and it was always so funny. She knew she needed to complain about a body part, but she never quite made the right choice. Then, minutes later, she would forget all about her "illness."
