Gift Tags for You
I so appreciate all of you subscribing to my newsletter! As one way of saying thank you, I created a sheet of gift tags that you can print and use this holiday season. Just click here to get it, and then print as many copies as you like!
Here's what they look like:
And, again, thank you for reading my newsletter and my cartoons. I feel so lucky to have a group of people who are enjoying my work!
News Updates
A few things have happened since the last newsletter:
1. I found a great charity. I just love Alice's Kids, which provides "targeted financial assistance to children in need -- to lift them up, give them access to activities or items that they normally do not have, and make them feel better about themselves." Here are just two recent actions they've taken:
If you're interested in learning more, find them on Twitter here or check out their website, where you'll find a short video and links to recent articles in The Washington Post.
2. I set up a page on Threadless to sell merchandise! I'm starting with the "Things Book Lovers Do" cartoon, and offering it as a print (various sizes including poster), as well as a tote bag and a journal.
I've never sold merchandise before, so I'm slightly nervous about it all going well. I'm announcing it here first, since you all are supportive of my work. If you order anything, let me know what you think of the process and the product! You'll find the page here, or click on the preview picture below.
3. I was on a podcast, talking about where I get my ideas, how cartooning helps me cope, and more. The host is Karen Liebner and the podcast is called “Finding Your Momtra.” You can listen here! Karen is awesome, and if you’re a parent (particularly of young kids), I highly recommend following @findingyourmomtra on Instagram.
4. I've got a few Christmas cards out on shelves. Here's what they look like (available where Recycled Paper Greeting cards are sold).
Ahhh... you have to love cats. I haven't done many cartoons about cats (we don't have one), but I've got one in the works called "Things Cats Do." I haven't finished it yet. (Cat owners, if you have any suggestions for me, reply and let me know!).
News From Home: Dog Reacts to Advent Calendar
We recently secured an Advent Calendar specifically made for dogs. Here's how JJ reacted.
Most Popular Cartoons
I post cartoons regularly on Instagram, Facebook, and on my website. So follow along!
These two cartoons were the most popular since the last newsletter. The first one is a cartoon I originally drew in 2010 or 2011, but I re-drew it this year because my style back then was very rudimentary. It's been a long time since I've had kids in car seats, so I was really happy that people could still relate to this cartoon. I guess kids don't change!
This next cartoon was one I did for Babble a while back. The comments were split between people who actually HAVE had a kid throw up in their hands and those who have not (...yet).
I've not only had a kid throw up in my hands, I've also had a kid throw up all over the front of my body. Fun times.
