Claire couldn't find her shoes the other morning.
"Look ALL AROUND," I advised from the other room.
"I DID," she insisted.
"Claire," I said, "I guarantee you they are on the ground somewhere in the kitchen area!"
She remained unconvinced. "Mom, I looked everywhere! They aren't here and I don't..."
As she was talking, I walked into the room and spotted them immediately.
We stared at each other.
Then she said:
In other news, the dog continues to be locked in a battle with the family vacuum.
He knows where we store the vacuum, and every time I open that closet door, he hears the door squeak and prepares for battle.
If the vacuum appears, he goes berserk. Barking, jumping, dashing all about. Doing everything he can to protect us from this threatening beast.
The other day, I wanted to give him a win. So I rested the vacuum on its back, indicating that it was dead.
"You did it," I told JJ. "You scared the vacuum to death."
He was so proud.
The final piece of news from here: I'm making the kids do their own laundry.
So far, it's not going well.
Valentine Cards!
I made some Valentine's Day cards for you! Click here or click on the image below to download it. Then you can print it and use whichever cards you like!
(I say "cards," but these are one-sided, so they're more like little postcards.)
Or, if you prefer to send digital messages, you could take a screenshot of one of the cards and text it to someone. Or just ignore this whole thing completely! It's entirely up to you, my friend.
If you DO decide to print it, save the file to your device FIRST, then print it. That way it will print at the right size. On my computer (a Mac) I go to "File," then "Export as PDF." Reply to this email with any questions.
If you're looking for an ACTUAL card, I made one that's available in major retailers in the U.S. and Canada.
Here it is, and you can find it where Recycled Paper Greetings are sold.
Yes, it's about farts. Farts are funny.
Things I've Been Enjoying
Comic: If you like weird humor, you might like the comic Pants Pants by Josh Mecouch. I happen to love it. His drawings just make me laugh. You can find it on Instagram and Twitter. Here's a small sampling of what goes on:
Book: If you're a teacher or have a teacher in your life, this book by Stephanie Jankowski is a fantastic read. She's so funny, so real, and shares great stories and insights. It's called Schooled, and you can learn more about it here on Amazon.
Celeste Barber: Maybe you've heard of Celeste? She's a writer and comedian, and I love following her accounts on Instagram and Facebook. She often parodies celebrity photographs, and it's hilarious. She's also been doing a lot to raise money to fight the Australia fires. Check her out.
Instagram Stories
I started posting Instagram Stories, so if you're on Instagram you can watch them by clicking on my profile picture.
I'm looking into Facebook Stories, and might start posting there too. I'm finding that the "stories" feature is a fun way to share cartoons, Hedger Corp updates, and humorous day-to-day things.
Most Popular Cartoons
You can find my cartoons on Instagram, Facebook, and on my website. So follow along!
These two cartoons were the most popular since the last newsletter. The first one is a cartoon I did after I got back from a run. I hadn't run in a loooong time, as you can tell...
This next cartoon was taken verbatim from a conversation I had with Claire.
This situation has happened several times. I remember one time the kids left a spoon -- ONE SPOON -- in the sink because it was not part of "dinner dishes." So... yeah. We're working on what it means to "do the dishes."
