Major Microwave Breakthrough!
Yes, I'm talking about my microwave again. But there's a good reason!
In the June issue, I . Then last month I created a video to put my microwave to the test, since it claimed it could do so many things.
Well, I'm here to tell you there's been a major breakthrough in this story.
Here's what happened:
News From Here
Pictured above: During our family trip to a remote cabin, Claire ditched the family, braved the pouring rain, and found the one spot that delivered a Wi-Fi signal, so she could send her friend a TikTok video. Way to go, Claire! That's dedication.
Also on the family trip, I was really missing our family dog, JJ (who stayed back with my mom). Thankfully my brother-in-law and sister-in-law brought their dog, Tink. "You will be my stand-in dog this week," I whispered to Tink. "I accept that role," she replied telepathically.
Thank you, Tink. I hope you enjoyed all the belly rubs.
When we returned home from our trip, Claire decided to grow a boyfriend. It was a toy she bought a while ago.
Evidently she felt it was time to bring "Mr. Right" into her life. So she plopped him into a bowl of water.
Then she forgot all about him.
"How's your boyfriend coming along?" I asked.
"Oh!" she exclaimed, "I have no idea!"
I went to check on him. I was worried, because the package claimed he could grow to 600% his size. I was trying to picture that. What would it be... the size of a small dog??
I needn't have worried. He had hardly grown at all. But I have to say, the scene seemed creepy.
I didn't know his name, so I just said, "Are you OK?"
No response.
I picked him up. He had a layer of slime on him, but other than that, seemed like a nice chap who exercised A LOT.
I put him on the table, to let the layer of slime hopefully evaporate off of him. Now he's lying there, eagerly waiting to meet his girlfriend. But Claire seems to have lost all interest! I'm not sure how to break it to him.
But first I need to deal with Kate, who has been making lists of all the things she needs to go away for college. I've been in denial that she's moving out, but soon I'm going to have to accept it.
I saw the image below on the Grown & Flown Instagram page, and it seems like a smart idea to me. The caption was: "How to drive your kid to college."
We drop Kate off at school next month, so I'm sure you'll be hearing about that.
The only good thing about Kate leaving is that we'll have an open bedroom. So I guess I can offer it to Claire's new (ex?) boyfriend.
"Hey, buddy, Claire is breaking up with you. But we can offer you a place to crash while you put your life back together."
In Case You Missed It...
In addition to my normal cartoons, I've posted the following things...
Here are this month's Bowl Game cartoons, where I pull random words out of bowls, then draw whatever it says:
Relaxed cockatiel joining the game Note: cockatiel (the bird), not cocktail
And there was one Hedger Corp update. The lunch lady set up a tasting hut to get rid of old food in the staff kitchen. Read about it here!
Most Popular Cartoons
You can find my cartoons on Instagram, Facebook, and on my website. So follow along!
These cartoons were the most popular over the past month. First, this one about Claire.
It's going to be ROUGH when school starts again.
People could also relate to this cartoon about Kate, her ripped jeans, and her grandpa.
This NEVER gets old for my step-dad. He's amused every time.
Finally, we have this cartoon, about my vision for a wonderful moment with my kids.
One thing I've learned in parenting is that when you're really pushing for something to be special, things tend to fall apart. So instead of trying to force things to be special, just assume things will probably go wrong. Then if they don't, you'll be pleasantly surprised!
