For this week’s Monday Motivation, I want to introduce you to a plant called Welwitschia mirabilis. According to Google, it’s the world’s toughest plant.
Yes, it looks a bit strange, but guess what? It doesn’t care. It just hangs out in the desert in West Africa, where it can survive for 2,000 years.
I started thinking about how strong and steady this thing must be.
A huge sandstorm could tear across the desert, and the Welwitschia would remain unfazed.
Bird poop landing on it? WHO CARES.
Camels using it as the base of a pyramid? Go for it.
Aliens invading over the horizon? Not ideal, but the Welwitschia remains calm.
So here’s what you can do: Mentally shrink this plant down and imagine it being in the center of you. It’s the part of you that remains strong and steady, even as life swirls and churns around you.
Whenever you’re feeling off-kilter, take a deep breath and tap into your inner Welwitschia. Remind yourself that, no matter what happens, you can handle it.
I mean, hopefully your week won’t look anything like this:
But even if it does, you’ll be OK. And before you know it, we’ll be meeting back here for another Monday Motivation!
P.S. Later this week I’ll be sending you some art you can use for Father’s Day cards or gifts. Watch for that email on Thursday—it will be free and going to everyone. And, as always, feel free to reply or comment below!
P.P.S. I turned on the $5/month subscription option! Details below…
I am imagining a storm trooper in the background with his weapon raised over his head.
Love your Monday Motivation mail! Just what I needed today.
