Something fun to start your week
You know how sometimes a situation can feel overwhelming? Maybe it’s just too big to wrap your head around, or maybe it’s scary or intimidating for some reason.
Well, this is your friendly reminder to break it down. (Thank you, reader Rebecca J., for reminding ME of this.)
Here’s how I envision we can break things down.
STEP 1: Figure out which parts of the situation you can control. Pull those parts out.
Leave the rest of the stuff behind in a pile and walk away.
Even better, picture an electric fence around that pile. Do not dwell on these things! It’s pointless and a waste of time. Leave them alone!
STEP 2: OK, so you’ve figured out what you can control. The next step is to break those things down into smaller and smaller steps.
Try to get to the smallest steps possible. Maybe even down to things like: “Turn on the computer,” or “Dial the phone number.”
Then just do one step, then the next, then the next…
The situation you’re in will keep changing, so keep applying this process. Pull out what you can control, and then break those things into manageable steps.
How will things work out? Who knows! Life is a mystery! Your job is to stay focused on the process.
In fact, I broke this email into manageable steps, and I only have two steps left:
Proofread what I just wrote.
Schedule it to go out.
And I HOPE you like it, but that part is not under my control.
Have a great week ahead!
(And of course, feel free to leave a comment, idea, thought, etc. Or share this with someone who could use it. Thank you!)
