OK, so this is a game I was playing over the weekend. I haven’t named it… but I guess you could call it “Finding the Overlooked Beauty.”
The idea is to look around and find something that is totally ordinary. Maybe even something that could be considered “boring” or “unappealing.”
Now imagine that thing is trying its hardest to impress you. It’s proudly presenting itself to you in all its glory. And it’s up to you to figure out what’s unique about it. Where is the hidden beauty??
For example, you might find beauty in the shades of colors, the design, the angles, the patterns of light and shadow, the movement, the symmetry…
This item is offering something to you. WHAT IS IT?
I’ll show you some examples. Here’s some stuff I saw over the weekend. First you’ll see the “boring” picture, then you’ll see what I discovered once I looked closer.
You get the idea. And no, I’m not on drugs.
Just find anything, and then look at it closely. What catches your eye? What’s neat about it? Don’t see it as the thing it IS, see it as a collection of colors, shadows, angles, and design… use your imagination. You have the power to transform something mundane into something special.
This is a fun way to remind ourselves that we are surrounded by wonder. Even commonly overlooked things can deliver something delightful to us. It sounds corny, but it’s true. And when you start to look for these things, it can amuse you and perhaps even deepen your appreciation for life.
So try this game and see if you like it. The things around you are trying to impress you. What do they have to offer?
Have a great week ahead!

Interesting game. I sometimes play a similar (and less interesting) game where I try to look at a completely different thing while traveling on a familiar route. Do this when NOT NOT NOT driving. I realized I always look at the same stuff; same house; same garden; same tree or corner … BUT you can deliberately look somewhere else and see a totally different scene! And I’m not on drugs either, tho I do practically live on Advil.
You consistently provide a new way of looking at/thinking about things, but this one is exceptional! Love it. Am going to implement immediately.
