Let me introduce you to a helpful demolition crew.
They are here for you when you’re stuck in a thought that you want to move past.
For example, say there’s an event coming up that might be fun and valuable for you to attend. But you’re stuck in an “I don’t want to attend” state of mind.
You wish you could stop thinking this way. But what can you do?
Summon the demolition team. Imagine the thought as a solid thing. Then imagine the demolition crew arriving.
They rush in with their tools and… boom! Crunch! Smash, smash, smash! They pummel your thought into dust.
Ahh… it feels good to be free of that thought. And now you can replace it with a thought that’s less negative.
But what if the thought really has a hold on you? It’s strong and persistent. Maybe the demolition team can’t get rid of the whole thing. At least imagine them getting rid of MOST of it.
The thought might not be gone, but it’s far weaker. The demolition team smashed it down to a level that you can manage. It’s not totally dominating you anymore.
The best-case scenario: The demolition team completely destroys the thought, and then another character runs in and plants a better thought in its place.
Then you find yourself shifting into more optimistic thinking.
No matter what, that demolition team is here to help you control unhelpful thoughts. I say “unhelpful” because we don’t want to eliminate EVERY negative thought. Sometimes negative thoughts can help us gain new insight, make a change, or take a stand.
But if a thought is unhelpful to you, you know who to call.
Have a great week ahead!
P.S. I’m sending out a newsletter this coming weekend, so watch for that! I have a surprising question for all of us to consider. I’m also sharing things I think you’ll enjoy and top cartoons! So stay tuned…

It's like you just knew I had an event this week I was considering bailing on. This is so helpful to me as someone whose ADHD and anxiety often trap them into a "deciding last minute not to go/then feeling guilty about not going/then feeling FOMO after the event is over" misery loop. Thank you!
Get me that crew!
