At our house, we practice the 'deep, cleansing breath'. when getting wound up, anxious, or overly concerned about something we can really do nothing about, we take a pause, and softly say 'deeeeep cleeeaaannnnsssssing breath' (slowly breath in on the 'deep cleansing' part and exhale on the 'breath' portion). this technique also works remarkably well for relaxing into sleep.
