Holy cow! Adrienne, this just what I needed to hear this morning.
Dealing with my 98 yo mil who has dementia & living on her own! She refuses to leave her home of 60+ years. 🙄. She’s blind from macular degeneration & can’t hear. She has a healthcare worker from 11-3 one day a week.
Thanks for that advise. We’ll keep it in mind as we navigate this life. I know we’ll be there one day! 👍🏼🥰
Having survived numerous courses of this type with different names (Sociopath Mother, Sick Child, Cleaning Up After (Fill in the blank)'s Death, I have so many words of wisdom to share. I think I have a master's degree in "Tough Phase of Life." One comment: unsolicited advice is never welcomed by those going through their own coursework.
Right! Daily living is Learning Lessons and for me a never-ending travail at times as my idiocy apparently knows no bounds.🤣 My personal lessons though are generally just that, personal, and therefore less instructive for others but allow me to empathize with people trodding the same path. Sometimes the best comfort comes from simply listening, but being able to say, "I get it--went through the same thing..." can offer support and hope that only a shared experience can provide. ✨💕🙏🏻💪🙌
I have read all your Monday Motivation emails, I think they are great! Today's really hit me, as I am having a minor health issue, and your suggestion of "what can I learn to help someone in the future" really helped a LOT! Thank You!!!!!!
Thank you, Katy! I'm really happy this helped you! (I didn't get alerts about comments, so I didn't realize I had comments until I came here and saw them! So sorry for the late reply...)
Thank you for this. I'm currently taking Heart Failure 101 and am not enjoying it at all! My assignment for this week is to get a defibrillator implanted. But looking at it your way, I'm becoming quite an expert!
Wow. This one is really beautiful and so useful! Though I'm fortunate enough to usually not need motivation to start the week, I do love these emails. They go onto little brain drawers for one day when I might need them. Thank you!
Ok, wow. I wish I'd seen this before I'd written my post about living in the Upside Down. The illustrations are pretty much how I feel ALL THE TIME. I don't want to be in this class, I want to drop it, I don't want to show up. :/ "This “class” you’re in is transforming you into someone who will have deeper empathy and understanding in life." I don't think I'll see my situation this way until I'm on the other side of it (i.e. when my Mom passes away). I consider myself an Introverted Empath, so I already feel things deeply to begin with, so right now, I'm trying to climb out of that and, well... it's the Upside Down. :/ "Tough times can feel really defeating. But maybe by thinking about how your experience could help others, you can regain some power." A good reminder. Which is why I wrote that post. Putting it out there to the public made me feel a little lighter.
Funny how things are.... I had this on my Inbox for all these weeks and it was a good one just for today. I'm kicking @ss at this class, or is it this class kicking my... ?
I love these Monday Motivations! Insightful yet also humorous. Keep 'em coming!
Thank you so much! For some reason, I didn't get alerted to any comments last week so I'm just now seeing this!

Is this for credit? 🤪 Love your humor! And, okay, also love how I learn something along the way. 😁

So true about the unsolicited advice!

Yes, exactly. The genuine "I get it" can be very comforting.

Thank you, Ororo. This means a lot. I'm thinking about you and sending you strength!

Love this, Andrea!
